Mozzarella Ala Caprese Now With Grilled Portobello

As our guests know, we love locating and serving the freshest seasonal ingredients. So as another long Atlanta summer comes to an end, unfortunately so does access to the beautiful Heirloom Tomatoes that are a cornerstone of our Summer Mozzarella Ala Caprese Salad.

So for our Fall and Winter Menu, we’ve decided to incorporate a beautifully grilled Portobello Mushroom into the dish. The flavor of the grilled Portobello is exceptional and creates a dense, meaty texture serving as a fantastic complement to our freshly made Mozzarella and our Aged Balsamic.

Come in and try our Mozzarella Grilled Portobello, Torn Basil, Sea Salt, Cracked Pepper, Fresh Burrata Mozzarella topped with Aged Balsamic.

Alpine Bakery & Trattoria's Crusher Wine

Introducing The Crusher

Alpine Bakery & Trattoria's Crusher WineAn Exceptionally Drinkable Cabernet

From California’s Sacramento Delta, Alpine welcomes The Crusher to our wine list.

About the Grape: The Clarksburg AVA is an up and coming wine region located in California’s Sacramento Delta. Originally known for row crops like the sugar beet, the area was quickly discovered by grape growers attracted by a microclimate which closely mirrored that of nearby Napa Valley. The soils here are a combination of poorly-draining clay and rich loam, meaning the vines experience nutrient-rich, and sometimes arid conditions. During the growing season, warm days give way to cooling afternoon breezes from the San Francisco Bay, dropping temperatures down 30 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit from their daytime highs. This mass of cool air allows wine grapes to retain more acidity than those grown in similarly warm regions.

About the Name: For more than 115 years, the Sebastiani name has been synonymous with quality winemaking in Sonoma County. Likewise, the Wilson family has been growing grapes in the Clarksburg region south of Sacramento since 1922. Created in tribute to the multi- generational partnership these two well-regarded wine families have enjoyed, The Crusher is fittingly named for the point where the fruit of one family’s labors literally gives way to those of the other.

About the Wine: Our 2012 The Crusher Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a vibrant bouquet of black cherry, toasted oak and captivating pepperiness. Graceful in the mouth, with a silky texture and lively dark berry fruit, flavors of plum and dark chocolate expand on the palate. Ten months of aging on 100% French oak imparts endearing smokey notes and a touch of sandalwood to our Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine finishes impressively long and showcases wonderful finesse and well-integrated tannins. Pair with a marinated London broil, porcini herb-crusted lamb or the classic New York strip steak.

Dinner Entree with Nero d'Avola Wine Bottle

Introducing Nero d’Avola

From Old World Sicily to New World Sensibility.  Alpine welcomes Nero d’Avola to our wine list.

About the Grape: Nero d’Avola (also known as Calabrese) is the most important and widely planted red grape variety in Sicily.

About the Name: Takes its name from the town of Avola on the island’s southeast coast. Translated, Nero d’Avola means ‘Black of Avola’, a reference to the grape’s distinctive dark coloring.

About the Wine: “An intense inky red, the Nero d’Avola seductively reveals a gorgeous perfume of blackberry liqueur, white flower, a hint of vanilla, and a hint of figs delivered in a leather basket. On the palatte, this wine is opulent, full-bodied, and viscous, with a great intensity, surberb purity, and a layered, seamless personality, that would convince most tasters that this in the New World personified.”

Food Paring Suggestions: Beef, Eggplant and Tomato Pasta.
